People power has usually worked well in Australia. When pushed, Aussies push back. 10,000 people marched the streets of Perth yesterday, to protest against the harsh new Industrial Relations laws John Howard wants to impose on the Australian worker. The laws will be passed, because Howard has control of both houses of parliament, but Kim Beazely (opposition leader) has declared that his first act as our new Prime Minister will be to TEAR UP Howards laws! A certain sweetener for new Labour voters. Pictured here is the "Palace Hotel" a famous landmark saved from developers by people power in a previous campaign. We can take courage in that. When pandoras box is emptied, hope remains.
